Getting guys involved

Post  LucyHannington on Thu Oct 02, 2008 8:41 am

I was really struggling to find guys for my Reading Buddies program, but the teachers at the middle school had so many personal connections to SLU coaches (as in, they're married to them) that it seemed logical to simply send a quick email to each of the men's head coaches. This has worked wonders for me, and one team alone has had 7 or 8 guys say that they're interested. Applications go out next week, so I'll have to see how many of them actually follow through with it, but at the very least it's a great way to get the idea into their heads--and they know if the coach is giving it the OK that they don't need to worry about scheduling conflicts with practices.
